25 June 2001 - supporters, friends and former teammates of Doddie Weir met at The Greenyards in Melrose for a hearty breakfast, briefing and warm send off from Doddie himself. Boarding the “Doddie bus” they set off for the Borders town of Peebles and the walk starting point of #trekfordoddie with BT Murrayfield, Edinburgh firmly in their sights.

A welcome stop in West Linton - thanks to Genius Brewing for the very welcome refreshments and My Name’5 Doddie Foundation and the organisers of the trek, Logan Sports Marketing, for the ample food re-supply. Fed and watered, feet attended to and off they set again - heading for the Pentland hills.

Balerno saw the weary trekkers hit civilisation once again. Another food intake, aches and pains tended to (smiles aplenty still) and all were keen to get the home straight done and dusted.

Doddie was there, at BT Murrayfield, to welcome the trekkers home - an emotional occasion all round!
